Jacob Cedric's Backyardigans Pirate Party (Part IV)

Part I: click here
Part II:click here
Part III: click here

Here's the continuation of uber detailed/long post on Jacob's Party

 PHOTO AND VIDEO SERVICES

This time, I'm looking for an affordable yet trusted and has a talent when it comes to party coverage. Fortunately, SP Forum recommends JV All Events Services. (I'm a SP Mom, by the way). I'm glad they accepted our event eventhough they have to travel for 3-4 hours from Manila. And they are way cheaper than everyone else (knowing it's an out of town event).
I contacted them thru Facebook and Ceejhei (Sir Jun's daughter from SP Forum), deposited and just reminded them a day before the party.
On the date of the party, they arrived early (same as with Kiko's Balloons crews)! And, before, during and after the party, I'm impressed! I never saw them resting - they keep of shooting and taking photos of Jacob, my family and the guests! Same with Sir Rudy, who's in charge of the videography!
And I'm more impressed, a week after the party - I already received the raw video and photos (in CD) of the party!
Here are some of the pictures from the party: Be Impressed

Can't wait for the Edited photos, Video teasers and print outs!

VERDICT: RECOMMENDED!

 CANDY STATION

Last year I also prepared a Candy/Dessert Station (click here) for Jacob's 1st Birthday Party - and surely it was a HIT! So I decided to come up with a candy station again, but the challenge for me now was to recreate an even better and a Pirate Themed Candy Station.
Wit a limited time I had for this (I have lots of commitments for the past months prior to the party), I'm still happy I pulled this off! I could see in every guests' faces how they enjoyed the candy station (especially, it's a new thing for a provincial party like what we had).

Since it's a Backyardigans Pirate Party, I decided to have a loot treasure box as the candy loot for the guests. I prepared 100 pieces of it, and just put a sticker label (photo below). These are all from Handicrafts, atbp

For the candy jars, I'm not really a fan of glass containers (even last year) since most of the guests were kids, and that won't really fit our theme. Also, Jacob is a boy so I need a not so girly containers for Candy Station.
So, I decided to make a step-stool. It's a ladder-like decor. I bought all the materials from National Bookstore (free advertisement, huh). The materials were:
  • a thick Styroboard
  • glue sticks and glue gun
  • Styro paint (in black color)
  • Illustration boards
  • Poster paints (white and red color)
Cut,shape and stick! That's the key to my DIY Project!

I just patterned the box dimension from Bubba Gump Glass I bought from a recent trip to HK. And reproduce it in 11 pieces (JACOB CEDRIC). I made using MS Publisher letter cutouts of Jacob's complete name (approximately 4-5 inches height). I painted it with white, black and red colors. Lined the inside with a plastic (I worry about the candies that may melt and the paint might stick to them)
And here ye - the finish product!

Candy Buffet
I bought the candies and the gummies from Divisoria. I bought around 11 - 12 assorted candies and gummies. For the gummies, 1/2 kg. of each (from bears to worms to teeths, etc).

The candy scoops (less than P50 for 5 pieces in different sizes and colors) and clear plastic thongs (less than P50 each) were from SM Department Store (Home section). And I also used the scoop from Jacob's Sand pail :)

Also, these were added for more colors to the candy station.

I also ordered, 2 bilao of Pichi-Pichi from a co-staff in GCMDH after I tasted how yummy the delicacy  was!

More to my surprise, my friend and co-staff, Jacob's Ninang Bel called me up. She gave around 4 boxes of Macaroons! We also had this last year from Trois' Restaurant and Pastry Shop

Ate Czel - Jojo's cousin gave also some candies - Thank you! I also added half of the cupcakes since I ordered 100 pieces of these. I made that cupcake tower, too!

To fit into the theme, I printed out a small standee of each characters of the Backyardigans.

Guests enjoying the candy station!

Cheers! More posts to come!

Jacob Cedric's 2nd Backyardigans Party (Part II)

Here's the 2nd part of Jacob's Pirate Party

Decors:
I tried looking for another supplier for Jacob’s party but they quoted me way too high. Maybe because it will be our first party together, so, I decided to contact again Kiko’s Balloons and Services. They’re the ones who made Jacob’s 1st Birthday so fab! But this time, I decided to allot less budget on this. I availed same party package as from last year’s Sesame Street party. The only difference is I opted for tarpaulin than styro backdrops. Reasons why I chose this:
      □ Quite expensive for a 2nd Birthday Party though I really wanted it
    □ I remembered the crews (during planning stage), since they'll all coming from Manila, they will be leaving the venue just after the party wrapped up! I felt guilty, so Tarpaulin was the best thing.

I just instructed Ms. Kristine through e-mail I wanted a ceiling long balloon drop-like décor since the venue has high-ceiling. Color combination would only be: red-white-black, since it’s a Pirate Party. And they executed it soo well!

Jacob Cedric's 2nd Backyardigans Pirate Party (Part I)

Yay! At last, Jacob’s party was over – and it was a Blast! I’m so excited to share all the ideas, details and photos from his 2nd Backyardigans Pirate Party! Here are the details, enjoy!
Theme: Backyardigans Pirate Party My Jacob is soo into Backyardigans – thanks too Amos (nephew of our friend, Arnel) who gave the DVDs as a gift on his 1st birthday. I, personally thought of having its one episode as his theme for the 2nd party. I was torn between “Heart of the Jungle and “Pirate says Arrr” episodes – but with the venue we rented , Pirate theme fits!
(Note: 2nd party – it wasn’t a plan to have a 2nd birthday party as big as this [as I promised my husband last year :-)], but my mother requested to have a party (though not this grand) in Laguna since the 1st party was is Manila (Ortigas – click here for 1st Sesame Street Party).
Party Planning in Laguna (or Province, in general) or throwing a not so ordinary, unique party in the province is quite difficult to pull off! The suppliers are very limited, or if opt to bring them from Manila, the rate is waaay higher! I’m so glad I had close group of contacts (suppliers), and for second time in a row, they made Jacob’s party truly memorable and special for everyone.

I'm sharing to you all, Jacob's invites for his Backyardigan's Pirate Party.
Made this using MS Publisher (I'm not good with Adobe :( )

It's a 2-page invites. 1st page covers the party details, Take note of party starts @ 3pm - I recommend this line for your invites, too! Quite effective with our last party (Jacob's 1st Birthday).
Not all guest will be receiving a 2-page invites, only those who doesn;t know how to get to the venue).
I opted not to put Jacob's face on the 1st page of invitation, because I planned it to be used as sticker together with the Jolly Roger as his party seal - clever, right??
I'm so excited na for his party!

2nd birthday Party: Backyardigans Pirate Update

It's been a while since I post here in my blog. I've been busy for the past weeks with travel, work and business.
And now, in less than 4 months until Jacob's 2nd Birthday - here are some of the details I have done for this special party - his 2nd!

Date: 11 September 2011 (Sunday) - This is his actual birthday!
Theme: Backyardigans Pirate Party - Jacob is soo hooked with Pablo and the gang, so I decided it would be soo much fun to throw a party with them as the theme - but with a twist! It is a pirate party, too!!
Jacob loves the Arrr! Pirates episode - he even dances with the all the songs played in the episode.. And this is Jacob's fave song -

Venue: Panguil River eco-Park, Laguna
It's my first choice for the venue but for some reasons we had to consider offer from my mom's friend who is willing to lend the venue for free. But it's quite a hassle if we have to provide every thing - including tables and chairs. So we decided to rent this place for the party. (blog here)
Already settled downpayment.

Advantages:
  • fits our theme well! And I love the hanging bridge! It's like you are " walking on the plank" in pirates' lingo (language)
  • Very spacious! Perfect for kid's party - I love the ceiling, too!

  • Rental is good for 1 whole day, I know , right?! Very affordable and we have more time for the preparation and party itself!
  • With sound system and linen included
Disadvantages:
  • Quite far from Manila - I hope our Manila friends will attend Jacob's Party
  • Linen available is brown - I hope they could provide more and colorful colored linens by September
Printables - already made the designs. For printing.
Invitations - DIY by Me> for printing

Other details, will be posted. I just have to attend to some things. Will update!

Jacob's 2nd Party is now Rollin'

I feel like I'm running out of time for Jacob's 2nd Birthday. More changes happened for the past weeks. And good thing, It's now officially rollin'..

Venue: from the cool nature Eco-Park to a spacious covered building, Jacob's 2nd Backyardigans Pirate Party is On!

Price: free (my mom is a good friend and her client is the owner)
Where: Laguna
This place used to be the Siniloan's Pagcor Bingo Place, but now an empty building. It is really a not-for rent place, but because me and the owner are good friends, he lend the key for the party!

Last day, we went there to check out the place - on how we're suppose to decorate it, etc. And my call,
Perfect for Jacob's 2nd Birthday Party!!

Circus Party - Event with a client

I'm not so sure how this works or if it really a good thing. We have a client who's based in abroad (not so sure, if it's Kuwait or London) and he planned everything for his son's 1st birthday party here in Pinas thru emails and fb.
All her orders for the event were rush. (We consider it rush, around 1-20days before the event) But we managed to finish it and on time.
It's a Vintage Circus Party for Jacob (yeah, same name as my Jakey). She invited us to come and celebrate with them.. First thought of mine was I'm shy and I do not even know her, it may look like i'm a party crasher :). I told my mom about it, and sais "Why not? She invited you, and she might introduced you to her friends, too!" Yeah I know, it would be of great help when she does that..
But, I have lots of things to attend to this weekend, we will just drop by at Shangri-la in Makati to deliver the orders, wait for her and will leave as soon as we can.. We have a family affair/reunion (unexpected), sort of since our balikbayan relatives are here in Pinas for Holy Week. Maybe it's not meant to be.. But I really appreciate the gesture.
I'll just share all the designs we have for the Circus Party -- and she ordered a lot of items!
