What I Love about Party Planning

Ever since I became a Mom to Jacob - I enjoyed planning for any occasions - not just for my son but  for the friends, too!

What I love about planning:
  • It excites everyone! Not just me but those people around me.. I'm willing to share every bit of details I did for my party, for them to also enjoy it
  • I'm not good in money especially in Budgeting, but, when it comes to party planning, I make sure I get all those affordable yet easy to deal with/professional suppliers. Those willing to put my ideas on their pre-planned activity/design, etc for the party
  • I love giving surprises, something new and unique for our guests and attendees.
Tips for an organized Party Planning:
  • Make time and make sure of your schedules on track. Always makes allowance with your time, yet try to finish it ahead.
  • Know your budget. Keep this in mind while scouting for suppliers. If you know you're out of budget - leave it, hence, willing to shell out extra money for this.
  • Search, Search, Search - it's fun spending time scouting for ideas over the internet, forums and blogs. Do not limit it your theme - example, "Sesame Street Party", but look for wider range of topics, you may never know something from other party themes will fit yours.
  • Do not afraid to ask, inquire from them. Countless e-mails were sent by me while planning for my son's party, just to meet my requirements, budget. You will feel even through that supplier will make your party special.
  • Always follow up. Do not hesitate asking what's going on with the preparation. Moreover, remind them of the party and the schedule. If you could ask for samples, that would be better and would make you feel comfortable even before the party sets in
  • Always ask for a written document or Contract. Just in case, something happened.

Happy Planning!

Date Night at Tagaytay

I learned my husband booked us of a relaxing weekend getaway/date night one of Tagaytay's Persian Hotel - Andanita Taj.
Twas quite far from the city, located at Nasugbu Batangas. I'm quite impressed they really stick with the whole theme - even their waiters are dressed up like persian/indians!
I never had the chance to take much photos of the place - my iPhone got drained! hate it..
Overall, the stay was really a relaxing one - had a Swedish Massage by night with my husband in their Spa Room..
Peso Power: ++++
Accomodation: ++++
Over-all Ambiance: +++ (ours don't have a view of Taal - we have to leave the room and step a few feet over their deck - their Presidential Suite was reserved ahead of us.

What I love about Taj:
I love the smell of the room.. Really Mediterranean.. The dim lighting and the accent curtain wall.. The room and bathroom was clean.

We had our snack at their restaurant and ordered shawarma and Milk Rose for me - It really tasted good!
Andanita Taj:
ADDRESS: 5059 Aguinaldo Highway (Cavite-Batangas National Highway), Laurel, Metro-Tagaytay
CONTACT NUMBERS: +63919-8216931 / +63932-6459587
EMAIL: tajoftagaytay@yahoo.com.ph
http://tajoftagaytay.yolasite.com/

After our mid-snack, around 8 o'clock in the evening - we drove ourselves to the city for some dinner.. Unfortunately Bion Gourno is Cliffhouse is full and we have to wait for 13 more clients to be seated first! So we opted for Platito. A Small restaurant inside the Cliffhouse that offers array of food menu.
We ordered Brazilian Rib Eye Steak and Fish Fillet.

And then, CASINO time again! We went to Casino Filipino in Tagaytay - it's my first time here but really the ambiance was almost same as what they offer in Pque. Lots of people playing - we just tried our luck at their Slot machines - we were winning at first but decided to gamble.. In the end we lost.

The whole overnight thing at Tagaytay was really a memorable for us -as what we used to do before - a tagaytay getaway -- a long drive yet sweet, stress-free, rejuvinating and relaxing date with him..

Happy Hearts day Daddy!

Understanding Craniosyntosis

I'm quite hesitant to blog about this.. but since, my blog revolves on how I deal with anything about life, especially with my son.. I have to share this story of mine to you..
Jacob was born via cs delivery.. He had perfect shaped head from the day I gave birth up to months.. I lost track about this.. I never thought that I day, I wil have to deal and accept this fact about craniostenosis..

One fine day, since it's my mom who took care of bathing Jacob everyday.. They also worry and ask me about his head. That's is getting " matambok" I am mother and quite in denial about that fact - since my parents also experienced the same thing about me when I was still a baby.
They were telling stories that I have an opened "bumbunan" or fontanelles when I was a baby - same as with my dad when he was born as relayed by my Lola. They just took care of me not getting any bumps in my head. My mom's OB even wants me to put under observation since it's they first case. But my lola didn't approve of it - and now, no worries...
But when I had Jacob, all anxieties, worries came and crosses my mind so we decided to put him into a check up with a Pedia Neurologist. I searched the web and saw Dra. Fojas,  an expert in that field. I immediately ask for appintment at Makati Medical Center.
While waiting, lots of kids same as Jacob are on scheduled check-up visit with Dra. Fojas, but their cases are different from Jacob - ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, etc..
Dra. Fojas confirmed Jacob has Craniostenosis

Craniosynostosis, “Cranio" refers to Cranium: The upper portion of the skull. "Syn" to together, “ostosis” to the genesis of bone.

Craniosynostosis is a condition in which one or more of the fibrous sutures in an infant skull prematurely fuses by ossification,[1] thereby changing the growth pattern of the skull.[2] Because the skull cannot expand perpendicular to the fused suture, it compensates by growing more in the direction perpendicular to the open sutures.[2] The resulting growth pattern provides the necessary space for the growing brain, but results in an abnormal head shape and sometimes abnormal facial features.[2] In cases in which the compensation does not effectively provide enough space for the growing brain, craniosynostosis results in increased intracranial pressure leading possibly to visual impairment or an impairment of mental development combined with a significant reduction in IQ.[3]
Craniosynostosis is part of a syndrome in 15 to 40% of the patients, but it usually occurs as an isolated condition.[4][5

To confirm with her diagnosis, she arranged us for a CT Scan of the Skull 3D at Asian Hospital Medical Center. We just gave Jacob a teaspoon of Benadryl so he could sleep during the examination. It took him almost 8 minutes for the test, but waiting time us feels like it's forever. Worryying about the results of the test.
At the end of the day, yes - he has Craniostenosis - specifically Turricephaly. It involves thebilateral  fusion of coronal sutures, thus gving a tall and broad head with narrow diameter.

Dra. Fojas, ask us if we want him to be on the OR Table for operation - to correct the shape of his head - just a corrective procedure - Jacob as no problem with or shows any delays in development if fact, we think he's even advance for his age.
Me and my husband decided NO to the operation.. I'm so scared  of it - putting him again for operation (1st he had when he was almost 2 months old for Hernia), seeing him at the ICU after it... It's just a corrective procedure..
Jacob won't be able to experience SkinHead Haircut... just Mohawks..

This topic is just for adding information about dealing with this condition.. How I became stronger as a mom to Jacob -- have to accept the fact, you can't have every good thing in the world - And still, thanking God that eventhough Jacob has craniostenosis - he is a normal and active kid - and we love him!

Jacob's 1st: Swimming at Splash Mountain

Since Jacob turned One, I'm already planning and looking forward on the day he'll take his first dip into the Pool and Enjoy it.
Until now, it's a dream come true for me! We went to Splash Mountain in Los Banos - it's our nth time here :) We used to stay at their hotel when me and my husband were just boyfriend-girlfriend.  My whole family loves here - why? Lots of pool to swim and affordable for big group.
We invited our Tito Efren and Tita Mila with the kids to join us. It wasn't really a planned one. Though, me and my husband talked about it, and relayed this to my mom - she thought we were just joking! So, we ended up buying rice and grilled pork and chicken.

What make me feel good about all this "swimming thing", Jacob gets to wear his iPlay Swimpants, which iIbought last Expo Mom at Rockwell. Though it wasn't shown in the photos (underneath the Swimwear) I quite concern with the weather - he might get colds - it's windy day afterall. I don't have actual photo with me, but here's a link. Jacob has the aqua sealife design (left, bottom)

Jacob's also wore his Speedo swimwear. It's one of my cousin, Ate San's pasalubong when she got home from CA. I just love how it fits - Jacob really looks good and cool with it!

Jacob and Daddy

At first try, he got scared and cried.. But after sometime, he started to enjoy the whole thing. Even splashing water to us with his little hands!
I love the moment and will treasure it for lifetime. Here are some photos captured by me:
Cheers!

Jacob's so into Backyardigans - Considering as Party Theme

When I first learned about it when a client asked about Backyardigans design. I googled and said to myself " Who are they?".. And last Jacob's Party, he received lots of DVDs as gifts - including Backyardigans.. He all watched the DVDs except for the Backyardigans - but after sometime, he got bored, so I played it..
Poof! He likes it.. At first, he's just staring at the TV, but after few minutes, he started to march as if dancing to the tune! I'm just so impressed.. They caught Jakey's attention.. Giggling over the episode "Secret Mission" when Pablo, Uniqua and Tyrone says "Dunt Da da.." or "waa waa wah.."
Here's a clip of the opening song which makes Jacob dance and march..

Now that Jacob's turning 2 on September, I'm considering this as his 2nd Birthday Party Theme.. Whatcha think? (TIA for the opinion). Moreover, I asked our production to make Jacob his Backyardigan Kiddie Stool.

Amanpulo: The Place to Be...

Amanpulo - when I first heard about this place, I started looking for it and poof - It's here in Pinas, and a uber lovely place to visit..
I've always wanted to visit the place - My MIL is always there every year for the past 4 years during summer.. I envy her! :)
The things that remind me of Amanpulo and people keep asking me, " Have you been to Aman? How much?" was because of the white shirt and a cap given by my MIL.. (feeling ako! :) )

Amanpulo.. Aman.. I wish I wish upon a star.. My husband would send me to Aman for vacay..

My Valentino

Cupid's day is near.. And I just don't know how will I surprise my Valentino on this day..
I just wanna share how L-U-C-K-Y  I am to be wed to a wonderful man.. it's been 4 years since I am with this person, but the excitement and love is still in the air..  The out of town getaways, date nights, shopping spree weekend, and small bonding time we spend with each other and with our son, Jacob.

My Valentino, I'm wishing of lifetime with you.. no more no less.. A handful of love and joy. for Jacob and me.. . A kiss on my forehead by night..more buckets full of patience when I'm being stubborn...

A father,

A Partner, and a friend..

Happy Hearts day Daddy.. Love you..
